Thoughts on a Statue Policy?

Post by {~JDilla~} on Mon Mar 30, 2015 3:43 am

Hey fellow boomers!

Was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on implementing some sort of statue policy. Before I came here I saw some other high lvl TF recruiting people that did higher lvl ops (Foxtrot) that had a min 75% offense statue policy. I personally go 100% offense for statues because I want to help out as much as I can, but I think in order for us to get up to higher (maybe Dead End one day!) we should get people onboard now to set ourselves up for the future.

Also, what about power powder? It's probably the rarest resource in the game and it'll have to be used for high lvl ops. If we have people saving it up now we could tackle some of the hardest ops out there in the future.

What are your guys thoughts?

Hi,
thanks for bring this discussion up. As far as any discussions are concerned I am just a member not the leader, we are democratic and decide together.

Here's my opp:
At the moment we should not force people to use powder because with 200/300 vp you guys are not upgraded enough to have power regulary. Moreover, how can we monitor if people have powder on stock and don't use it? For sure, everyone has to attack even if he does not have powder (because he used it for Terror).

I would appreciate if you guys use power powder as often as possible, i do, but I see not way to force you, too.

what statues are concerned:
I would not intervene in peoples game tactics. Ice statues for instance bring quite some intel per week. For the actual attack of course, dark/red statues are more efficient. I suggest we have this discussion later, if we encounter that this is needed.

At the moment I don't feel easy about forcing people to change their gameplay this way. But it is possible that in a couple of weeks/months when we are up 3-4 levels I think about this in a different way.

It is good, we have a causal chat here now, so that people can express their toughts.
cheers,
Bernd

another tought. we should differ between a policy that includes what people have to obey and an advising section which includes what we ASK people to do. there we could drop stuff that is useful but not mandatory. another thought is that these
"nice to have" things are mandatory for officer status.

I don't think there should be a strict policy (i.e. if you don't have 2 magma statues we kick you), but rather just encourage people to get good statues. Some people, especially low levels, don't have much options for statues and power powder, and as they level up they will undoubtedly get offensive statues on their own. Having good magma & GBE statues is just a part of being a good player. Maybe we should make a sticky for general Boom Beach Tips on the forum, with advice on how to be better at the game.

Hmm, I think I only have 4 offensive statues (if troop health counts...).

I think that until someone is at/near max anything but life statues are good. Im personally using 3 RR statues atm.

I think its great to bring this up now, because it takes weeks to get masterpieces of anything. I know i really didnt know which statues to keep and use before i heard from bernd about using the offensive ones.

So to have this as an idea of a future need, will be great because if anyone is serious about this game, they will be happy for that info and direction anyways i think.

I have thought about this before. I like the statue idea but feel it should vary for players of different levels (I.e. Irrelevant to lower levels as they need any statue they can get their hands on but apply for higher levels as an ice statue can effect so much as you get attacked so much more often.) I also like the requirement for officer status. But at level 28 i have only recieved one masterpiece(life so useless) so it will be WAY to difficult for at least 1/3 of members to obide by im guessing

I see what you're saying about it not being a problem as a requirement because they should have it anyways. It is true, people should really be prioritizing magma and GBE (and RR) over life/ice in most cases - IMO, this is my priority list for statues:

Tier 1:
GBE Masterpiece, Troop HP Masterpiece, Troop DMG Masterpiece
Tier 2:
Resource Reward Masterpiece, high-% GBE, HP, and DMG Guardians
Tier 3:
+PSC% Masterpiece, Base HP Masterpiece, Base DMG Masterpiece
Tier 4:
+PSC% Guardian, RR Guardian, All Resource+% Life Masterpiece
Tier 5:
All other statues (idols of any kind, all other life statues, ice guardians)

People might disagree with this and order it differently, but that's my list. Obviously statues can go up or down tiers depending on their %. Basically, anything in the same tier is more or less the same value as the other ones, and should replace statues in lower tiers if possible.

the basic question we have to answer is: can we force people to go for a selection of statues or not. If someone for whatever reason decides to have 10 ice statues do we want him to leave the TF then?

I say (for the moment): as long as people contribute intel, good attacks they are doing fine. The only thing I can think of is making officer status depending on a given statue layout.

If we applied this it could also mean that we would be admitting or dismissing members based on luck.

Maybe policy isn't the right word to use right now, but rather an encouragement to get these offence statues. Potentially being able to get officer status for the right statue combo could motivate ppl to move in the right direction like Bernd said. I don't think we should kick people for not having offence statues, nor do I think an idol magma is better than a masterpiece life. Ultimately it's the players decision, but down the road we'll need high % offence statues and PP to even attempt some ops.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone it's great to see such an active TF

Cheer!

Im not so keen on making a statue policy at present. But an open chat, like this, about best fit statues and recommendations would help promote what the TF would wish to aspire for. It would also enable us lower and up and coming members to learn off those with longer term experience and make better decisions on which statues are most beneficial both personally and for the TF.

I think commanders statue tier is a good stating point.

I think before we look to adopt any of this as policy, or as guidelines, we need to ask ourselves what we want this taskforce to BE.

EDIT:

Bernd made it clear when we began that he wanted an easygoing taskforce that could grow. I'm not sure if he wanted such violent growth or where he wanted us to go with time. Adding this may help educate some people about someones opinion regarding statues, but it isnt easy going.

I want a fun TF but fun includes success so we have to find the correct mixture. At the moment i say: no statue policy and i am quite sure that oppinion wont change.
BUT if we as a team find out that a special status selection helps us more, than I can think of making the "encouragement" and honoring people who change their statues to the red/dark site by officer status because they do something crucial for the TF and can contribute more offensive power. But this only make sense when we are on a settled 600vp+ level when people have (nearly) maxed troops. Because only if people are maxed we can take the offensive statues as a measure for offensive power. Before that level offensive power depends on xp / armory development too much.
